4 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari in Rwanda Tour overview

Before you take this most sought Rwanda Wildlife Safari, its important to note that the Akagera National park covers an area of 2500 square kilometers that is covered with savannah as well as beautiful scenery and also represents an African wildlife tour without the crowds and you visit Rwanda and this is park that should not be missed. On your 3 day safari to Akagera , you will spot over 500 birds, elephants, zebras, leopards, buffaloes, lions, hyenas, giraffes as well as sitatungas antelopes.

It is akso important to note that with the lodges in AKagera National park, you have got two options and these include; the high-End Ruzizi tented lodge and the moderate Akagera Game Lodge, So you need to decide on which Accommodation you would prefer before you decide on booking this safari.

Day 1:  Airport Pickup- Transfer to Kigali City

On arrival at Kigali airport, our tour guide will be waiting with a placard reading your names and will warmly receive you for your 4 Days Akagera Wildlife Safari Tour. After a comprehensive briefing about the safari highlights, your driver-guide will transfer you to the lodge for a rest. Meal plan: Half Board. Dinner and Overnight at Hotels Des Mille Collines or Kigali Serena Hotel or Hotel Marriot.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Today, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a 2-3 hours journey to Akagera National Park in the East of Rwanda. The journey to Akagera national park is filled with the beautiful landscaper en route to the park, feel free to ask the guide for stopovers to capture some photos.

On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodation at Akagera Game Lodge or Ruzizi Tented Camp. In the evening, you will enjoy a game drive in the park seeing a variety of birds and animals such as Lions, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, spotted hyena, hippo, and crocodiles and then retire for Dinner and Overnight at your prebooked hotel.

Day 2: Game Drive in Akagera National Park, Lake Ihema Boat Trip

Today, you will after breakfast leave with your packed lunch for a safari game drive which will last about 6 hours depending on your interests. Be on the spot to view a variety of animals on the game drive including Akagera elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard, and bushbucks, among others.

In the afternoon, you will after lunch go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema where you have a chance to get a very close encounter with the aquatic mammals such as the crocodiles and hippos along the river banks. Dinner and Overnight as indicated above.

Day 4: Kigali City Tour, Departure & End of Safari

Wake up to an early morning breakfast and start your day with an exciting half-day game drives in our safari customed vehicle as you exit the park. You will have the opportunity to spot the animals you may have missed the previous day (that is if you are lucky!)

On reaching Kigali, visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, the handicrafts shops, etc. Later our tour guide will transfer you to Kigali airport for your scheduled flight.
