4 Days Rwanda Cultural Tour and Gorilla Safari Highlights

  • This itinerary is full of adventure and comprises of 4 days and 3 nights in country. The focus of this trip is a visit to Volcanoes National Park and the endangered mountain gorillas. Logistically this itinerary requires a morning or early afternoon arrival flight into Rwanda as on day 1 you have a guided tour around Kigali and a visit to the genocide memorial centre before driving down to the forests of Volcanoes National Park. This itinerary includes 2 treks to see the mountain gorillas, 1 trek can be substituted for a visit to the rare golden monkeys if desired..

Day 1: Kigali, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

This 4 Days Rwanda Cultural Tour will begin in Kigali and still end in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. You will have an early breakfast and drive to Musanze, Driving through the picturesque landscapes and awe-inspiring journey, spend 2 hours on the way and upon arrival in Musanze, you will check-in at the lodge of your booking for lunch, refresh yourself and then take a rest from the journey. The rest of the day will be spent sightseeing and relaxing around the hotel until dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up today very early and have breakfast, then go for a gorilla trekking briefing at the Park Headquarters where you will learn the basic rules and regulations regarding Gorilla trekking. Before you begin the trek, you will be allocated a Gorilla family to track for the day and the ranger guides will lead you to search for the gorillas, an adventure which takes between 1-6 hours until you meet them. Once found, you will spend a maximum of one hour observing the gorillas in their natural setting. After the tracking, you will be returned to your hotel.

Day 3: Iby’iwacu Cultural Village Tour

You will have lunch and breakfast and drive to the Iby’wachu cultural village for a detailed account of the Kinyarwanda traditions and culture dating from the pre-colonial era. This is the exciting part of the 4 Days Rwanda Cultural Tour and Gorilla Safari where you get to mingle with foreign culture. You will have opportunity to taste the local foods and locally brewed wines. You will participate in cultural activities such as storytelling, singing and dancing around a campfire and spend the night in a traditional hut.

Day 4: Kigali City Tour, Flight Departure

This will be the last day of your 4 Days Rwanda Cultural Tour and as usual, you will have early breakfast, then set off for a Kigali City tour visiting remarkable cultural sites and historical centers of the center such as the Kigali Genocide memorial site, The Kimironko Marks, Caplaki Crafts center, the colourful markets among others. Later on, you will be returned for lunch after which you will be transferred to the airport for your outbound flight.
